Urban Designer

You design the public realm and city fabric — streets, neighbourhoods, and masterplans — sitting between architecture and planning. The role almost always needs an M.Arch (Urban Design) / MUD for formal urban-design authority, while town-planning roles may expect M.Plan/ITPI-aligned credentials. Demand is strong in consultancies and development authorities, and very strong in Gulf mega-masterplans.

The steps in this path

Common questions

Urban design is about physical form — streets, blocks, public space. Planning (M.Plan) is about policy and land-use. They're related but distinct disciplines, with town-planning roles often tied to M.Plan/ITPI expectations.
