Drug Inspector — medical devices (CDSCO)

The pathSkills

This is the medical-devices side of India's central drug regulator (CDSCO). It runs alongside the Drugs Inspector role that handles medicines. You join through UPSC under rules issued in 2024–2025, into a permanent, pensionable central post. You inspect, license, and regulate medical devices under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017. More people can apply than on the drugs side — engineering branches qualify too, along with pharmacy and life sciences. The job carries real regulatory power, but seats are few and the exam is hard.
