The aspirational Pharm.D destination: a peer-to-peer scientific expert bridging the pharma company and Key Opinion Leader physicians — discussing trial data, therapeutic outcomes, and strategy, without selling. Direct fresher entry is virtually impossible; the realistic route is 3–5 years in an in-house Scientific Advisor / Medical Information role (or PV / medical writing), building deep therapeutic-area credibility, then moving to the field-based MSL track.

Virtually never — MSLs must hold their own with veteran specialist physicians, which takes 3–5 years of built credibility. Don't target MSL as a first job; target the in-house Scientific Advisor / Medical Information door and pivot at ~3 years.
