Specialized practice (healthcare / commercial / hospitality)

You practise within a building-type specialism — hospitals, data centers, malls, hotels, or high-end residences — at firms that focus on that domain. Pay runs above generalist practice at mid/senior level because the domain knowledge is scarcer, with data-center work carrying the highest technical premium. You usually specialize after 2–4 years in general practice, not from day one.

Common questions

It raises pay and your value in the Gulf mega-project market, but it narrows your mobility across building types. Healthcare needs NABH/AERB/CSSD logic; data centers need tier/resilience, ATD/CDCP-type knowledge, and serious MEP/BIM coordination.
