Pharmacist — state government
This is the state-government pharmacist job. It is a permanent, pensionable post in a state health department or district hospital. You join by clearing a state recruitment exam and registering with the pharmacy council. Pay follows the state's 7th-CPC pay matrix, though some states use fixed-pay probation before regularisation. Promotions follow set rules but are slow, and depend mostly on vacancies and seniority. The work is secure and respected, with formal specialist routes such as Clinical Pharmacy Officer and Drug Information Officer in some cadres.
